Second quarter deadline for Lifestyle Spending Account
Ohio State’s Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA) reimburses employees up to $125 quarterly for eligible expenses related to health, fitness, family and emotional and social wellness. The second quarter ends June 30. Employees have until July 15 to submit a claim for eligible expenses incurred April 1 – June 30. Unused LSA funds do not carry over. Read more.

Diabetes-Friendly Recipes: Free Livestreaming Demos
Join Your Plan for Health on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at noon ET. Cameron Carothers, a registered dietitian and culinary educator, Michael Carnahan, a chef and culinary educator, and Jenny Shrodes, a certified diabetes care and education specialist, team up to bring you flavorful diabetes-friendly recipes, offer some tips and tricks, and answer your questions about cooking with diabetes all in under 20 minutes. Register once to receive recurring reminders.

Planned Network Maintenance Beginning Thursday, June 29

The Office of Technology and Digital Innovation will be performing network maintenance to HTTPS and Radius/EAP certificates from 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 29 through 1 a.m. on Friday, June 30. While service disruption to the network during this maintenance window is not expected, degradation in service is possible. Following this change, devices may detect this new certificate and prompt users to accept the certificate. Questions regarding this planned maintenance should be directed to the Service Desk by calling 614-688-4357 (HELP), emailing servicedesk@osu.edu or visiting Self Service. Please reference change number CHG0089275. This change and other planned maintenance at Ohio State can be found on the System Status page. 

Enrollment Window for Tuition Assistance Opens for Autumn Semester

Applications for tuition assistance benefits must be submitted each term, and the enrollment window for autumn semester closes Aug. 25. Eligible faculty and staff can apply in Workday (recommended) or with paper forms for dependent tuition assistance and faculty and staff tuition assistance. To receive dependent tuition assistance, students must have a Social Security number on file with their university student record. To add a Social Security number, use the change of record form on the Registrar’s website.

OSU Meat Shoppe - Summer Sale

The Ohio State Meat Shoppe, housed in the CFAES Department of Animal Sciences, is offering a Meat Summer Sale in preparation for July 4th. Call ahead or stop by for your July 4th needs.

ODI's DEI Education Program

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion's (ODI) Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Education Program in the Office of Strategic Diversity Planning, Training and Assessment supports campus-wide efforts to create an equitable institution where folks feel they are valued and belong. Our program is designed to support the DEI needs of faculty, staff and other university employees. Our upcoming educational workshops include Social Identity 101 and Microaggressions 101.

Breakfast with the Birds at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center (July 11)

The Environmental Professionals Network (EPN) Breakfast and Summer Field Trip event will feature hands-on learning activities, networking, food, beverage, and birding at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Join this event to explore the places, spaces and people who are increasing community involvement in the outdoors, birding, and ecological restoration in Central Ohio.

Located along Woody Hayes Drive next to Plumb Hall, the Chadwick Arboretum Trial Gardens offer the opportunity to evaluate the performance of ornamental cultivars in typical Central-Ohio conditions.

August 15, 2023 at the Fawcett Event Center - Columbus, OH (Bus transportation to and from the Fawcett Event Center
and the CFAES Wooster campus will be provided.)

Come explore concepts, ideas, and examples of teaching excellence and innovation for the advancement of student engagement and learning,
and the enhancement of effective pedagogy. All members of the CFAES teaching community (faculty, staff, and graduate students)
are encouraged to participate. Registration for members of the CFAES community is at no charge as this is a college-sponsored activity.

Support Cancer Research at Ohio State

Early detection and advancing treatments continue to increase the number of cancer survivors across the US. Pelotonia – a bike ride to raise money for cancer research at Ohio State – will be celebrated this year by highlighting survivor stories. These stories demonstrate the impact that research and cutting-edge treatments can have on those who are diagnosed with cancer. Watch “Stories from Survivors,” a short video about Pelotonia’s impact.

There are many ways to contribute to the cause, including volunteering, sponsoring a rider, or biking in the event (August 4-6). If you would like to donate, you can choose to contribute to a specific rider or directly to the CFAES Sustains Life Peloton.

Ohio Hunger Dialogues

The Ohio Hunger Dialogues invites all stakeholders interested in addressing hunger and food insecurity in Ohio (and bordering states) to attend this dynamic dialogue which seeks to engage attendees in conversations to share knowledge and insights; and to collaborate on best practices and solutions around the systematic issues of hunger and food insecurity in Ohio communities.

Friday, September 8th
This day will focus on research, evaluation, professional practice, and policy with an emphasis on our faculty, staff, and community audiences.

Saturday, September 9th
This day will create spaces for students, activists, and community-based practitioners to share best practices, program examples, and creative ideas.

CFAES Principles of Community

We all contribute to our community and our collective experience. You are encouraged to download and post the principles, discuss them during meetings, share them with others, and most importantly, use them as a guide in all that we do to sustain life.
