Reminder: Enrollment Window for Summer Tuition Assistance Closing

Applications are required each applicable semester for faculty and staff tuition assistance. The enrollment window for summer semester 2023 ends May 12. Eligible faculty and staff can apply in Workday or with paper forms. Applications for dependent tuition assistance must be submitted each term. Both parents are required to enroll in dependent tuition assistance to qualify for the 75% benefit. To receive dependent tuition benefits, the student must have a Social Security number on file with their university student record. See the HR website for more details.

August 15, 2023 at the Fawcett Event Center - Columbus, OH (Bus transportation to and from the Fawcett Event Center
and the CFAES Wooster campus will be provided.)

Come explore concepts, ideas, and examples of teaching excellence and innovation for the advancement of student engagement and learning,
and the enhancement of effective pedagogy. All members of the CFAES teaching community (faculty, staff, and graduate students)
are encouraged to participate. Registration for members of the CFAES community is at no charge as this is a college-sponsored activity.

Microsoft 365 to prompt sign-in beginning May 22

The OTDI team works regularly to enhance IT services at the university. A recent enhancement includes moving to a new policy for Microsoft 365 which will allow faculty, staff, and students to access more Microsoft 365 applications and features in the future. The policy change will occur from May 22 through May 30 for faculty and staff. Learn more.

Columbus Campus Faculty and Staff Parking Permit Upgrade/Downgrade Program

The annual Columbus campus faculty and staff parking permit upgrade/downgrade program for the 2023-24 permit year runs May 1 to May 31. The upgrade/downgrade program is available for employees who are interested in purchasing permits outside of their job family. Parking permit eligibility is based on job family, such as Classified Civil Service (CCS) and unclassified Administrative and Professional (A&P). Your eligible permit options are displayed when you log into the CampusParc website using your Ohio State credentials. If your job family changed since you last purchased a permit, you may see different permit options. Look up your job family in Workday by selecting View Profile.

Security and Privacy Statement on Artificial Intelligence

The use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools has increased rapidly over the past few months and will continue to grow. Digital Security and Trust within the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation has created guidance for the university community on using these tools while keeping information security and privacy considerations in mind.

Spring Plant Sale and Auction Fundraiser

Visitors can peruse a selection of 16,000 new, unusual, and tried and true edible and ornamental plants, participate in tree and shrub auctions, visit vendor booths, enjoy food trucks, and even have their garden tools sharpened while they shop! Proceeds from the event benefit The Ohio State Chadwick Arboretum, student organizations, and local businesses. Credit/Debit only.

Celebration to honor Ohio's environment and its champions on June 5

The Environmental Professionals Network (EPN) and the Environment and Natural Resources Alumni Society (ENRAS) will be recognizing the newest members of the ENR Honorary 100 at the upcoming EPN Breakfast event on Monday, June 5 at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center. The induction ceremony is followed by remarks on the importance of natural resource management and diverse partnerships to solve conservation challenges from Bill Stanley, state director of The Nature Conservancy in Ohio.  

Participants are invited to stay for EPN’s summer field tour of one of Ohio’s landmark research sites for environmental restoration and natural resource management, Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory – showcasing research led by SENR faculty on agricultural soils and forestry.

Registration for Pelotonia 2023 is open! Join OSU Team Buckeye: CFAES Sustains Life

This year marks the 15th anniversary of Pelotonia – a bike ride to raise money for cancer research at Ohio State. Join co-captains Kayla Arnold and Gary Pierzynski on the CFAES Sustains Life Pelotonia team. This is Kayla’s 10th year volunteering and will be Gary’s 3rd year riding in the event. There are many ways to participate including volunteering, sponsoring a rider, or biking. There will even be a new gravel ride this year for those who enjoy off-road routes. Join in on the fun! 

To register for the CFAES Sustains Life team, go to the Pelotonia website and click on the desired registration. If you have registered previously with Pelotonia, you may need to reset your password using the “Forgot password” link the first time you log in. To request to join our Peloton, you can search for it during the registration process (CFAES Sustains Life) or under “Edit Profile” from your account homepage. If you have trouble finding the team, after you finish registration simply send your public ID directly to Kayla Arnold who can manually add you to the Peloton.

All proceeds from Pelotonia are donated to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (The James). To date, Pelotonia has raised nearly $261 million for cancer research.
