IT Updates

Save Your University Data in OneDrive
Storing your files in OneDrive offers several advantages over saving them locally on your computer. Using OneDrive ensures your files are securely backed up and protected from data loss due to hardware failure or theft.  While CrashPlan continues to be available from the university, it is considered a last resort for file restoration in the event of hardware failure. We do not recommend storing important files on your local hard drive.

Impacting Mental Health and Wellbeing by Addressing Stigma in Rural Communitie

On December 5th, 2023, Ohio Youth Resilience Collaborative and Ohio State University Extension hosted a conference on mental health stigma with over 80 attendees from around Ohio. The conference offered 5.5 hours of continuing education credits on topics including substance use disorders, farm stress, and suicide prevention in rural Ohio communities. 29th Annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum

The Denman Undergraduate Research Forum is Ohio State’s premier undergraduate research forum, celebrating the accomplishments of senior undergraduate student researchers. This year’s forum will feature over 220 student presenters across four sessions and ten categories. The forum is open to all visitors who want to learn more about the exciting student research taking place at Ohio State.

Stewardship of Our North Coast focus of upcoming EPN breakfast program

Dive in and learn about intergovernmental efforts in place to protect and restore Lake Erie at the March 19 Environmental Professionals Network (EPN) breakfast program. Experts from the International Joint Commission (Canada-U.S. federal partnership), the Great Lakes Commission/Des Grans Lacs will join agency leaders from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to highlight how federal and state agencies work collaboratively to manage Lake Erie in partnership with regional academic institutions and the private sector. 

2024 Celebration of Research Week

Join us for the 2024 Celebration of Research Week, taking place April 8-12, to emphasize the many successes of the research community in CFAES. Throughout the week researchers in our college will be highlighted on our social media platforms and we will be hosting several events including the CFAES Research Forum Poster Competition on April 9 and the CFAES Research Forum Awards Ceremony and Luncheon on April 11. All events will take place at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center in Columbus. 2024 CFAES Awards and State of the College

Join vice president and dean Cathann Kress for the CFAES Awards and State of the College on Friday, April 5. The events will be held in person on the Columbus campus with a watch party being held on the CFAES Wooster campus. A live-streaming option will also be available. The CFAES Awards will be held from 9-10:30 a.m., with a reception from 10:30-11 a.m. (for those attending in person in Columbus or Wooster), followed by the State of the College from 11-11:30 a.m. If you plan to join in person or attend the watch party, please RSVP by March 22.

Excel Courses - Live Online

The spring Excel workshop series kicks off on March 15, 2024, via Zoom, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. You can enroll in one or all of the following: Basic Excel - Friday, March 15; Intermediate Excel - Thursday, March 21; Advanced Excel - Thursday, March 28; Excel Pivot Tables - Monday, April 1; and Excel Functions & Formulas - Thursday, April 4. 

Submit a proposal for an Engagement Grant

The Office of Outreach and Engagement provides funding to faculty and/or faculty-led teams, and university staff that hold PI status with the annual Engagement Grants program. Grants are awarded at a maximum amount of $15,000 to support development of impact reports for programs, performances or exhibits; development of a public policy document or impact report; development or implementation of a program, performance, exhibition, or initiative based upon previous research, assessment, or community stakeholder/public input; or enhance or expand a program that extends community access to the university, broadly defined. Proposals are due March 4.

Applications open for the annual OSEP awards

In collaboration with Ohio State Energy Partners (OSEP), the Office of Academic Affairs has opened a call for grant proposals that align with the university's sustainability goals; align with advancing access, engagement and inclusive excellence goals; or provide research opportunities (in all disciplines) to students who have limited exposure to undergraduate research and experiential learning opportunities. Submissions are due March 11. Faculty, staff and students are eligible to apply. Awards range from $10,000 to $50,000.

Luminary: A TEDx Conference

On March 2nd, TEDxOhioStateUniversity will hold its annual main event. With 9 amazing speakers giving live TEDx Talks and one talented performance group, we the diverse variety of talent on the Luminary stage will act as a light and source of innovation for the audience. Early Bird Tickets are now on sale until February 9th so buy yours before then using the promo code ‘excited’ on the ticketing website to get a $5 discount! On February 10th, tickets will go back to regular prices. Diet, Nutrition, Cancer: Collaborating Toward a Cancer-Free World (In-person)
