Protecting Your Peace this Holiday Season
The holidays are often considered a time of joy, gatherings with friends and family, and festive cheer. However, the pressures of gift-giving, social events, and expectations can sometimes take a toll on your mental health and steal the joy of the holiday season. If you’re experiencing increased stress or struggling with your mental health during the holidays, know that you are not alone. Here are some tips to help you protect your peace this holiday season.

One Week at Waterman: Fall 2024

Learn about classes utilizing streams and gardens to train our next generation of engineers and agriculturalists. Faculty hosted tours to build valuable relationships and share industry specific knowledge. See the changes specific to this season, construction updates on our new Multispecies Animal Learning Center, and exciting research that could help save bees.

Buckeye Pen Pals

Buckeye Pen Pals is an initiative designed to connect current OSU students with alumni and give them resources to build meaningful relationships. These connections aim to pair students with alumni in similar career fields. For students, this program provides a mentor who can help students polish resumes, find internships, and gain general career advice. For mentors, the program offers a unique way to mentor and support students who are pursuing a similar career path all while maintaining a connection with their alma mater.

CFAES Hoteling Spaces

If you’re going to the Columbus campus for a holiday celebration and looking to get some work done before or after, consider reserving a hoteling space. With multiple locations across the Columbus campus, these hoteling spaces can be reserved for a few hours or the entire day, and are done so on a first-come, first-serve basis. Within the spaces themselves, many are equipped with monitors and docking stations, and the layout varies from cubicle-style workstations to open tables and meeting rooms. If you do decide to reserve a space, please note that you will need to bring your own device to work from. 

Updates and Impacts to Storage Limits and University Email Services

Ohio State is making changes to storage allowances for email, OneDrive, and Teams. In addition, email account forwarding policies will be changed. 

On Dec. 31, 2024, email account forwarding to outside email services will be discontinued.

Cannon Opens, CABS Service Changes Late November, Early January

The new Cannon Drive and Woody Hayes Drive intersection in Columbus opens in late November. Beginning November 18, the Campus Loop South (CLS) resumed service to Morrill and Lincoln towers, in addition to existing stops. Beginning January 6, the new Northwest Connector (NWC) route will provide service between Kenny Road, Carmenton, Midwest Campus, Morrill and Lincoln towers and the Transit Hub. The CABS On-Demand Mid-Tower stop will no longer be serviced during daytime hours; riders can use the CLS and NWC instead. The Buckeye Express (BE) moves to 11th Avenue. Donate Business Clothing for Buckeye Careers' Student Career Closet

Help boost the confidence of every student by donating professional attire for the Career Closet. Your gently used office outfits could become somebody's first impression. Donate and make a difference in a student's life. All gently used professional clothing must be ready to wear - laundered or dry-cleaned and not needing repair. Coordinate clothing drop-off at Younkin Success Center before Dec. 13 by emailing Kristen Hill at hill.592@osu.edu.

Apply now for the University Outreach and Engagement Awards

Ohio State is seeking nominations of scholars, practitioners and graduate students for the 2025 University Outreach and Engagement Awards, which honor faculty, staff, students and community partners for outstanding achievement in producing engaged scholarship and community impact. Awards will be given in three categories: Community Engaged Scholar, Community Engaged Practitioner (for staff) and Community Engaged Graduate Student. Apply by Dec. 15.

Call for proposals: Programs of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship

To support and promote high-impact engaged scholarship, the Office of Outreach and Engagement has instituted a process to certify programs of excellence in engaged scholarship. The certification process seeks to identify and certify up to 20 projects annually that demonstrate excellence in community-engaged scholarship and meet the criteria of high-impact engaged scholarship. Submit a proposal by Dec. 15.
