Tai Chi for Beginners - Online
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, January 14 - March 5 | 2:30-3:15 P.M.
This free Tai Chi for Beginners series is a completely online program that uses Sun Style Tai Chi forms to promote physical and mental balance, increase flexibility, decrease arthritis pain, and help prevent falls. It is also a great way to calm your mind on a stressful day. This program can be performed standing or seated. Registration is required at www.go.osu.edu/taichi125.

2025 CFAES Alumni Awards Nominations Open

Support CFAES by nominating alumni and friends of the college who have made significant contributions to the food, natural resources, or agricultural industries for the 2025 CFAES Alumni Awards. By nominating someone, you play a role in shaping their legacy and contributing to the college's tradition of honoring excellence and service. The nomination period closes Jan. 31, 2025. 

Transportation Options for Columbus CFAES Students, Faculty and Staff 

Do you teach or attend a CFAES class and need transportation options? CABS On-Demand provides daytime transportation between areas west of Olentangy River, including Waterman Lab, Wetland Research Area, the 4-H Center and Controlled Environment Agriculture Research Complex to RPAC, Stillman Hall, Mid-Towers, Doan Hall, University Square and Gateway. Overnight, the service provides transportation between campus buildings. Students, faculty and staff can download the “TripShot” for scheduling and real-time tracking. Once on the app, go to “Trip Planner” and locate the building/drop off location name. Examples are listed below - the bold text is how the stops are listed in the app.

CFAES Summer Research Survey for Faculty Mentors

Calling all faculty who are interested in mentoring an undergraduate student as part of a CFAES summer research experience. Please complete this survey as soon as possible. We will use this information to aid in planning and matching students with labs for the summer 2025 programs. The college will default to matching only one student per faculty member for each program (ORIP/SROP) unless funding allows. If you have available funding to sponsor additional student researchers, please indicate this in the survey.

Updates and Impacts to Storage Limits and University Email Services

Ohio State is making changes to storage allowances for email, OneDrive, and Teams. In addition, email account forwarding policies will be changed. 

On Dec. 31, 2024, email account forwarding to outside email services will be discontinued. Learn more.

On June 1, 2025, new storage limits will become effective for current university faculty, staff, and students. Learn more. To ensure a smooth transition and empower you with the knowledge to navigate these updates, OTDI is hosting free training sessions for university faculty and staff in the first half of 2025. OTDI Planned Network Maintenance

OTDI will be performing maintenance in several locations on the following dates. During the maintenance windows, there will be network outages at the building locations listed for approximately 10 minutes. The outages will affect all devices connected to the wired and wireless OTDI network.

2025 Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Annual Scientific Meeting

Registration is open for the CTSI Annual Scientific Meeting. This year’s keynote will focus on the critical intersection of climate and health, exploring how innovative solutions can address the far-reaching impacts of our changing environment and health equity for all. A poster presentation will be held and abstracts are due December 20, 2024. Poster topics are open but should relate to translational science. All are welcome to submit abstracts. A selection of poster abstract submissions will be invited to present their work in a dynamic five-minute presentation format to the full audience. This is a great opportunity to highlight your research and spark collaborative discussion.

Moo-ving Methane: Converting Ohio’s dairy farm manure into an energy source.

The Environmental Professionals Network (EPN) kicks off their 2025 programming on Jan. 14 with “Moo-ving Methane: Converting Ohio’s dairy farm manure into an energy source.” Join the networking breakfast to learn about methane-capturing technologies implemented by IGS Energy on dairy farms and their contributions to energy supply diversification and climate change mitigation. At the event, you'll hear from a multi-sector team of agricultural engineers, energy providers, and representatives from Ohio's dairy industry who are working together to convert manure methane into bioenergy.

National Day of Racial Healing 2025

The Power of Storytelling in Racial Healing
Join CFAES for an interactive 90-minute webinar that will change the way you think about racial healing and community building. In honor of the Kellogg Foundation's National Day of Racial Healing on January 21, renowned facilitator Susan M. Glisson will share an overview of The Welcome Table™, a community building process she uses for racial healing, reckoning, and repair. Her innovative approach utilizes storytelling and deep listening to foster authentic relationships that create a safe space for acknowledging and reconciling past race-related wounds and facilitate effective collective efforts that transform communities.
