Keep Your Zoom Apps Up to Date

Zoom is taking a big step towards ensuring their users stay current with the latest Zoom releases. Beginning November 1, if your Zoom desktop or mobile app is more than 9 months old, you will be prompted to update before you can attend a meeting. Going forward, in order to use Zoom, you must be updated to one of the latest versions. We encourage you to be proactive on your personal devices and keep those up to date so you aren't late to class or a meeting. If you use Zoom on a university-managed device, your local IT support staff should be able to assist you.

They are the kind of co-worker who can drain the energy and morale of everyone they encounter. Their toxic behavior can range from subtle comments to full blown drams. Workday Office Hours

Ohio State business areas continue to host informal sessions that provide answers to commonly asked questions. Office hours are open to users of all levels and are hosted by subject matter experts.

Workday Buying Experience Office Hours
Representatives from the Grants Shared Service Center and the Procurement Shared Service Center will be available to address top questions received from Workday users. Travel and PCard Office Hours
During the Office Hours sessions for Travel (Tuesdays 10-11 a.m., June 8 through December 14), participants will review current travel updates (industry, system, policy or supplier information), observe demos of Workday travel processes and/or how to use travel suppliers for booking, and ask questions regarding guidance for policy/system issues. Get more details and the link to join a Teams session.

The CFAES Awards call for nominations is now open. The CFAES Awards webpage includes a grid outlining each award and criteria, a link to the Qualtrics nomination portal (see on website: Click Here to Nominate) and a link for additional nomination information for the Office of Research and Graduate Education awards. Note that some awards restrict to one nomination per TIU (department/school) or college unit. Award nominations are due November 1, 2021.

This 90-minute training provides an overview of best practices for recruiting a diverse candidate pool for faculty and staff positions. Participants will examine the role that various forms of implicit bias can play in screening applicants and identify ways that intersecting social identities create an unlevel competitive job market. Strategies for targeted recruitment of historically underrepresented minority applicants will be addressed. The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences requires that all individuals serving on search committees complete this training every 2 years.

5th Annual Stinner Summit - Register by Nov. 8

Join us for the 15th Annual Stinner Summit planned for Thursday, November 18 from 1-7PM at the OSU Wooster Campus Science Building to brainstorm ways to improve the health of Ohio’s land and people with support from the Ben Stinner Endowment for Healthy Agroecosystems and Sustainable Communities. You can attend the Summit either in-person or virtually. The Summit will begin with a retrospective of impacts of past Stinner Summits, and will culminate in a celebratory dinner, featuring local ingredients and catered by Local Roots Café. Corporate Research Engagement 101: The Basics

This webinar being held from 10 a.m. – noon on Thursday, Nov. 18, is designed for Ohio State faculty and grad/postgrad students participating in industry sponsored research collaborations. Participants will explore how to use existing university-industry relationships to identify company contacts; gather intelligence on current/past Ohio State industry partnerships; and navigate the industry-sponsored research process. 

Limits to Growth, Revisited at upcoming Environmental Professionals Network Breakfast program

Utilizing current data, methods, and perspectives – this program revisits a persistent and existential question, is humanity’s present rate of population and economic growth sustainable? This EPN Breakfast program on November 16th welcomes Gaya Herrington (director, Sustainability Services, KPMG), a global expert reporting on recently published models and statistics in support of the classic MIT limits to growth thesis, and Sandy Doyle-Ahern (president, EMH&T), leader of one of Ohio’s largest professional engineering and survey firms with decades of experience managing regional development projects, who will take a deeper look at the rapid population growth of central Ohio – one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. Strategies for what we can do in the 21st Century to both confront this growth and offer strategies towards a different, more ecologically balanced future in the region and beyond will be discussed. Josh Knights (Sustainability Institute at Ohio State) will moderate this program.
